Robotics Club: FIRST® LEGO® League
Wednesdays | 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM | 2nd - 5th Grades
Class Description
FIRST® LEGO® League is coming to Scotts Valley! Yes, that includes an opportunity to compete against other teams in California! Join Brick Lab this fall for our brand-new LEGO® Robotics Club— an after-school club focused on Engineering, Science, and Technology, combining parts and curriculum from SPIKE, BricQ, and FIRST® LEGO® League. All students will also have the opportunity to participate in a FIRST® LEGO® League competition. Grades: 2 - 5 Day: Wednesdays Session Length: 90 minutes (3:00 PM – 4:00 PM) Program Duration: 13 weeks (after school at Brick Lab office) Dates: Septemb16 – December 16 No Class: November 25 (Thanksgiving Break) Skill Level: All experience levels welcome Designed for curious, hands-on learners in grades 2–5, Robotics Club goes beyond building. Students will explore real concepts in physics, engineering design, and computational thinking as they plan, construct, test, and refine their creations each week. Drawing from three industry-leading curricula — SPIKE™, BricQ Motion, and FIRST® LEGO® League — this program delivers a rich, structured learning experience that grows with each student over the course of the session. Each week, students will tackle age-appropriate challenges that mirror the kind of thinking engineers and scientists use every day: observing how things move, designing for a purpose, troubleshooting what isn't working, and iterating until it does. Along the way, they'll build vocabulary, develop technical confidence, and practice the collaborative problem-solving skills that serve students well inside and outside the classroom. No prior robotics experience is required — just a willingness to explore, experiment, and build something great. Why LEGO® Robotics Club? - Curriculum-backed learning rooted in real Science, Technology, and Engineering standards. - Hands-on challenges that develop critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. - Gain valuable collaboration skills by being part of a team. Each week features a new challenge and theme, from motorized machines to sensor-powered creatures to beginner-friendly coding adventures. Advanced enrollment is recommended; late enrollments may not be eligible for competitions, but all are welcome in weekly classes. Come for the challenge, stay for the memories—every week brings something new!
